In most Western societies, women are allowed and encouraged to pursue the same roles as men in careers and hobbies. However, some people still believe a woman’s role should revolve around her husband and children. Harrison Butker, the kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, shared his views on the subject during a recent speech at Benedictine College, where he was a guest at the graduation ceremony.
Some insist the speech was “bigoted” and the backlash intensified when people discovered more about Butker’s personal life, specifically the occupation of his mother.
“I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you,” Butker began.
“Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
Butker then suggested the female graduates at Benedictine College should consider becoming homemakers, using his wife Isabelle as an example.
Not surprisingly, Butker has received significant backlash for these comments, with many considering them sexist, misogynistic, and unacceptable.
So, what does Butker’s mom do anyway? Is she a homemaker?
Hint: “Harrison Butker was raised in affluence by his physicist mother, who specializes in gamma knife surgery, went to Smith, & hyphenates her name,” wrote one poster on X.
Check this out – Mama Butker co-authors studies such as this: Factors Influencing Pulmonary Toxicity in Children Undergoing Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in the Setting of Total Body Irradiation-Based Myeloablative Conditioning.
Now THAT is impressive – and ATTRACTIVE. (And I don’t understand any of it)
Also, Butker wasn’t using much common sense in telling college girls to be homemakers. They obviously attended college because they had other pursuits.
Wrong audience. Talk about missing one wide right…
Lastly, it’s so expensive to have a big family these days as both the husband and wife usually have to work full-time just to make ends meet.
The three-time Super Bowl Champion criticized various topics beyond just the role of women in his 20-minute speech at Benedictine College, including COVID-19 lockdowns, abortion rights, and the LGBTQ+ community.
The NFL has condemned the kicker’s comments, as reported by Today. com.
“His views are not those of the NFL as an organization,” the statement read. “The NFL is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion, which only makes our league stronger.”
He’ll be 29 in July. Let’s chalk this up to his youth, inexperience, and gullibility.
