Legendary Democratic strategist James Carville expressed confidence once again on Monday, predicting that Vice President Harris will defeat former President Trump on Election Day, which is now just two weeks away.
“I think that Harris is going to win,” Carville said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Beat with host Ari Melber.”
Carville, the mastermind behind former President Clinton’s triumphant 1992 campaign, has voiced strong criticism of Trump’s rhetoric on the campaign trail. He argues that this election is about more than just candidates, suggesting it’s about the Constitution itself.
Current polls suggest a neck-and-neck race between Trump and Harris. Back in late September, Carville expressed a confident intuition that Harris would emerge victorious in this tight contest, although he stopped short of making an official prediction then.
“But that’s just a feeling,” he said. “That’s just a feeling.”
Earlier this month, he confidently shared with CNN’s Michael Smerconish that the election was far from being decided. Although he recognized that the vice president held a slight lead, he emphasized that the true victor would be determined by who captured the majority of those crucial battleground states.
“I think it will break at the end. I think someone will carry swing states 5-2 or 6-1,” Carville said. “Whoever does that will do well in the House and do well in the Senate. But this thing is a long way from decided.”
According to the latest aggregate of polls from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, Harris holds a slight but significant lead over Trump, with 49 percent compared to Trump’s 47.8 percent. This 1.2 percentage point advantage underscores Harris’s growing support and suggests a promising momentum in her favor on the national stage.
James Carville’s diverse career extends far beyond consulting, making him a compelling figure in the media landscape. He hosted CNN’s Crossfire from 2002 to 2005 and frequently appeared on numerous television talk shows, showcasing his expertise and engaging personality. His influence reached even further with his appearance in the Academy Award-nominated documentary The War Room (1993), which highlighted his strategic prowess.
Carville also demonstrated his versatility by acting in various television programs and films, often portraying a fictionalized version of himself, as seen in HBO’s K Street (2003). Additionally, he took on other roles in notable films like The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007). This multifaceted involvement underscores why Carville remains an influential voice worth listening to across multiple platforms.
Carville wrote or cowrote several books, including We’re Right, They’re Wrong: A Handbook for Spirited Progressives (1996), …And the Horse He Rode In On: The People v. Ken Starr (1998), 40 More Years: How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation (2009), and It’s the Middle Class, Stupid! (2012).
